Description
Magdalen Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with a remodel in the late 18th century. A datestone from 1801 is set in the stack of the right range. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof with brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan, is two storeys tall with an attic, and has a two-window range. There are chamfered timber lintels above a late 19th-century four-panelled door that has a gabled hood, as well as above 5-light casements. To the left is a similar two-storey, two-window range with 3-light casements, a brick end stack, and a gabled roof dormer containing a 2-light casement. At the rear, there is a mid-18th-century one-storey service extension made of squared and coursed limestone with a gabled red tiled roof. The interior has not been inspected, but a report from 1975 notes that there are 17th-century beams on both floors with double-leaf chamfer stops. The service extension features a pitched stone floor.
