Description

Midway is a house, dated 1675 on the fireplace bressumer, with an 18th-century extension to the right. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a colourwashed brick plinth to the right. The roof is thatched, with a ridge stack (originally an end stack) finished in rendered brick. The house follows a one-unit lobby-entry plan, with a rear outshut extended to create a two-unit plan. It is one storey and attic, with a two-window front. The windows have timber lintels over a 20th-century door and one- and three-light casements. There are two half-dormer casements in the attic, to the left and right. Inside, the room to the left has winder stairs adjoining an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer, a stepped-ovolo-moulded beam, and a timber-framed rear wall. To the right is a chamfered beam and 19 winder stairs. The roof is a side-purlin design.
