Description

Florey's Farmhouse, now a house, dates from the early 17th century with a later 17th-century addition to the right. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with squared quoins, and has a gabled stone slate roof. The end stacks are of ashlar with moulded drip courses and capping to the left, and rendered to the right. The original plan was of a two-unit cross-gabled design, later extended to three. The front of the early 17th-century section presents two storeys and an attic, with a two-window range. A central gabled stone porch has a studded door set within a moulded wooden architrave. There are label moulds above the hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned windows, which have 4, 3, and 2 lights respectively. The later 17th-century bay to the right features similar windows with 3 and one light. Side walls also have similar 2-light windows. A stair turret is located to the rear, flanked by a 20th-century extension and a 19th-century outshut that incorporates a reset datestone from 1659.
