Description
Walnut Tree Cottage is a 17th-century house located in Hinton Waldrist, Duxford. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a thatched roof with stone stacks finished in brick. The cottage is one storey with an attic and has a three-window range in an L-plan layout. There are timber lintels over two central blocked doors, with 20th-century casements inserted. The ground floor has 20th-century casements with timber lintels, and there are half-dormers above. The gabled roof has gable end stacks, and there is a projecting bread oven on the right gable wall. To the rear right, there is a two-window range wing built in a similar style and materials, which includes early 18th-century carved brackets supporting a flat hood over a 20th-century door on the left side wall, 20th-century casements, one 18th-century two-light casement, and a gable end stack. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
