Description
Cote Cottage is a house, originally dating from the early to mid-18th century, with an early 19th-century rear extension. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled stone slate roof and a brick end stack. The house has a one-unit plan, comprising a single storey and attic, and has a two-window front. Timber lintels are above a blocked door and modern three-light casement windows. Two modern, gabled dormers are present. A modern door is set into the left side wall.
A rear wing, built in the early 19th century as two cottages, is constructed of matching materials with old tiles to part of the left side. This wing has a three-window range and features segmental brick arches above modern casement windows and a blocked door. A flat hood, also from the early 19th century and supported by brackets, shelters a modern door.
Inside the original front range, features include chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, a winding staircase adjoining an open fireplace, and a chamfered beam and open fireplace in the rear.
