Description

Home Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse situated on the west side of Main Street, Over Norton. The main range is constructed of coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings, and has some wooden lintels, with a Stonesfield-slate roof and ashlar stacks. The building originally comprised two main units, with a rear stair projection and a subsidiary range attached. It has two storeys plus an attic, and a further two storeys in the main range. The front of the taller main range, with three windows, features leaded casement windows of three, two, and three lights at the first floor, while the ground floor has canted five-light leaded bay windows in the outer bays, and a part-glazed door set to the right of centre. All openings are framed by ashlar flat arches. A steep-pitched roof has gable stacks and two gabled roof dormers. The lower subsidiary range to the left has an irregular arrangement of leaded casement windows, plus a further entrance, and features a part-rebuilt ridge stack. A "County" fire insurance plaque is visible on the main range. The interior has not been inspected.
