Description

This is a cottage, likely originally two separate dwellings. The left-hand section is probably 17th century, while the right-hand section dates to the 18th century. The cottage is constructed from roughly-coursed limestone rubble, with stone slate roofs. The left-hand section has a stone right-end stack with a brick shaft, while the right-hand section has a brick end stack. It has a two-unit plan and is one storey with an attic, featuring a two-window front. The left section is taller, with a much steeper roof. A 20th-century studded ribbed door is located at the front. Most windows are casements with multiple glazing bars, generally two lights, and are found throughout the cottage. The right-hand section includes a casement window inserted into a former doorway, and features three-light casements. Ground-floor window openings are topped with wooden lintels. There are two dormers in the roof. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected. This building is listed for its group value, representing a notable example of vernacular architecture.
