Description

Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from the early to mid-17th century, with alterations made in the mid to late 20th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble and features a stone slate double-span roof. The external and two ridge stacks have large ashlar shafts with moulded cornices. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a four-window range.

The main front, facing the garden, is irregular. The third bay includes a two-storey porch with a Tudor-arched doorway and moulded spandrels in a chamfered surround, featuring 20th-century double-leaf six-panelled doors. A moulded string course runs along the façade. The first floor has a partly-renewed two-light window, while recessed ovolo-moulded mullioned windows are present throughout. Below the first-floor window, there is a panel with a triangular-headed inner panel framed with incised and moulded details. The gable ends have coped parapets with kneelers topped by obelisk finials. The second bay features a large two-storey, four-light canted bay window, while other windows consist of three lights, equipped with hood moulds on the ground and first floors.

The rear, which now serves as the entrance front, has a three-window range and a mid to late 20th-century porch with Tudor-arched double-leaf doors. The ground floor includes some four-light windows and two irregular relieving arches, while most of the other windows of three lights have been largely renewed. Single-storey ranges at right angles to the main building are primarily from the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
