Description
The Gatehouse, also known as the Tackley Estate Office, is a former dairy and bakehouse that dates back to 1645. It is constructed from limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The building has a stone ridge stack with three diagonally-set square brick shafts. It is designed in a T-plan with a cross-wing on the left and has one storey and an attic, with a one-window range. The ground floor includes two 20th-century leaded 2-light casements with wooden lintels, while above, there is a 17th-century leaded 3-light window with moulded wooden mullions. The right range of the building is blank. The entrance is located on the left return side and features a 20th-century plank door on the right. Inside, the building has run-out broad-chamfered beams.
