Description
This dovecote, located at Manor Farm on Tackley Ball Lane, is thought to date from 1616 and was likely built for John Harborne. It is constructed of regular coursed limestone, with alternating bands of wide and narrow courses. The building has a moulded plinth and a strongly projecting string course, and is topped with a stone slate roof featuring gabled ends. The plan is square, and the structure comprises one storey and an attic. The west side features a wide plank door set beneath a painted wood lintel. An upper floor contains an indecipherable datestone within a moulded surround. Each gable has a two-light recessed mullioned window with a hood mould. A square, open timber lantern sits atop the structure. The other elevations are similar in design. Inside, there are nesting boxes.
