Description
Malthouse Cottage and attached cartshed date to the 17th and 18th centuries, with 20th-century alterations. The cottage is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a cement tile roof, rendered brick end stacks, and a stone ridge stack with a brick shaft. It has an L-shaped plan, with a wing extending to the rear. The cottage is single-storey with an attic, originally featuring a three-window range. There are three-light, top-hung windows and casements with horizontal glazing bars. Painted wooden lintels are above the ground-floor windows, and dormers have been added. A 20th-century door within a recessed porch is located on the left return side. The interior has not been inspected. The attached cartshed is from the 18th century, built of limestone rubble. It has a hipped roof covered with cement tiles facing the road and corrugated asbestos towards the yard, and a butt-purlin roof. The fifth bay of the cartshed is enclosed. The buildings are included in the listing for their group value.
