Description
Choicehill Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the early 18th century and underwent alterations in the 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features concrete plain-tile and Welsh-slate roofs with brick gable stacks. It has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys plus an attic.
The front of the farmhouse is symmetrical with three windows. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows with flush architraves and projecting keyblocks. The ground floor features canted 19th-century bay windows on either side of a 20th-century porch that shelters the flush-architraved doorway. The steep-pitched roof includes two renewed roof dormers. There is an added lower service bay to the right.
At the rear, there is a long stair window and several tall windows with ashlar flat arches and projecting keyblocks, most of which are now blocked. A three-window rear wing extends from the left end and has additional tall windows, some of which still have leaded cross casements. The rear gable is topped with a stone parapet. The interior has not been inspected.
