Description
Whitehall House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 17th century and was remodeled in the late 18th to early 19th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and rendered brick, topped with a Welsh slate roof. Originally, it had a three-unit plan and is two storeys high. The front features a five-window range of irregular casements with glazing bars, all set under wooden lintels. There is a notable three-light stone mullion window with a hood mould located in the centre of the ground floor. To the left of the centre, there is a four-panel door beneath a wooden lintel, which has a flat 20th-century hood above it. The house has a chamfered plinth, an ashlar gable parapet, and brick stacks at both ends.
Attached to the right side is a two-unit brick and stone extension from the 19th and 20th centuries. The rear of the house is similar in style, featuring some stop-chamfered lintels and central 20th-century French doors. Inside, there are large spine beams between the hall and the room to the left, along with an early 19th-century staircase that has reeded stick balusters. Some original roof structure remains intact.
