Description

Park Cottage is a house located on Bridge Street in Brigstock, dating from the early 18th century and early 19th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features both thatch and concrete tile roofs. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, it has been altered to a three-unit layout. The house is single storey with an attic and has a three-window range of eyebrow dormers in the attic, which contain 19th-century style casements. The ground floor has a two-window range of 20th-century casements set beneath early 19th-century flat stone arches. A central 20th-century door has a similar arch above it, while there is another 20th-century door to the far left, which is positioned under a concrete lintel. The ends of the building feature projecting brick and ashlar stacks. To the left, there is a one-unit extension with a concrete tile roof and 20th-century roof dormers. Inside, the central room includes an open fireplace with a bressumer and ceiling beams. A small room at the far left may have served as a workshop. The cottage was used for a time as a clothing workshop by Messrs. Wallis and Linnells of Brigstock.
