Description

This group of three headstones, dating from the early 18th century, is located approximately 3 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels. They are made of marlstone and exhibit Baroque style features. The southern pair of headstones features similar decorations, including swelling oval panels framed by drapery, cherubs, and palm leaves, although the inscriptions are mostly illegible. The northern headstone displays an earlier style of decoration with a square acanthus-framed panel flanked by scrolls. The upper half of this headstone is adorned with further scrolls and an acanthus cornice that arches over a winged cherub head. The inscription on this headstone is largely illegible but appears to commemorate "Church" or "Churchill."
