Description

Masonic Hall, built around 1760, is a house constructed from coursed limestone rubble with raised ashlar quoins and a gabled roof featuring rendered end stacks. The building has a central-staircase plan and stands two storeys high with a symmetrical five-window range. It includes a Venetian window with sashes positioned above a Venetian doorway that has a 20th-century door and a decorative fanlight. Timber lintels are present above the six-pane sashes, and there is a moulded cornice beneath the parapet.

Inside, the hall features 18th-century panelled doors. The room on the right contains mid-18th-century panelling and a fireplace with a moulded architrave. The fine panelled room on the left boasts a fretted dado rail, a modillioned cornice, and a fireplace with an eared architrave and pulvinated frieze. There is a reset mid-18th-century dog-leg staircase with a landing at the rear, featuring turned balusters set on a closed string.

Additionally, there is a 20th-century rear extension attached to an early to mid-18th-century building made of similar materials, which includes a carriage entry to the left and a five-bay collar-truss roof with butt purlins. A tall limestone rubble wall, which is stone-coped, extends approximately 30 metres to the rear.
