Description
The West Oxfordshire District Council Offices, formerly known as No. 26, is a house converted into offices, built around 1900 for the Clinch family. The building is constructed of squared and coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and features a gabled concrete-tile roof, along with banded stone ridge and end stacks. It is designed in the Jacobethan style and has three storeys with a symmetrical three-window arrangement on the gabled front.
All windows are fitted with plate-glass sashes. The central bay is highlighted by banded pilasters and colonettes that lead to panelled double doors, which are topped with an overlight and flanked by sashes. The two storeys above this central bay have classical pilasters framing two-light stone-mullioned windows, while a shaped gable and similar pilasters frame a Venetian attic window. The gabled outer bays are also adorned with pilasters that frame four-light stone-mullioned windows above. Additionally, there are two-storey square bay windows featuring similar stone-mullioned windows. The interior has not been inspected.
