Description
Dormer Cottage, located on Abingdon Road in Cumnor, is a house dating from the early 18th century that was remodelled and extended in 1808. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled roof covered with old tiles. It has a right end stack made of stone, which is finished in 20th-century brick. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, it has been extended to a three-unit plan. The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has a four-window range. It features timber lintels over a 20th-century door and 18th or early 19th-century three-light iron casements, except for a 20th-century window located at the bottom right. The front of the house is symmetrical and includes timber lintels over the 20th-century door and casements to the right, along with a datestone marked 1808 and a 20th-century roof dormer. The rear and interior have not been inspected but are likely to be of interest.
