Description
Tithe Barn House is a building that was originally a tithe barn, likely dating from the early 19th century and remodelled in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with large dressed blocks and quoins, topped with a half-hipped roof covered in 20th-century tiles. The building has a five-bay plan that originally featured a central threshing floor. The central doorway has been filled in with 20th-century weatherboarding, and there are 20th-century doors and windows at the rear. The interior and the attached outbuilding to the right have also been remodelled in the 20th century. The large dressed blocks used randomly in the walling are likely medieval in origin and were sourced from Cumnor Place, which was demolished in 1811.
