Description
This building, located at 1 and 2 St Mary's Road, is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The structure is primarily made of red brick, with render likely covering timber-framing on the cross-wing to the left. It features an old plain-tile roof that is half-hipped on the left side, a brick stack at the right end, and a lateral stack at the rear left. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of a single storey with an attic, arranged in a two-bay range.
At the junction of the cross-wing to the left, there is a plank door with a lean-to porch. To the right of this door, there is a three-light casement window, and a two-light casement window is located on the right return of the cross-wing. There is a flat-roofed dormer on the right side and a gabled dormer on the right return of the cross-wing. Additionally, there is probably a 19th-century addition to the right, which is a single-storey, single-window range featuring a plank door on the left and a three-light casement window on the right. The interior has not been inspected but is reputed to have cruck construction.
