Description

Milton Mill House is a mill house that has been converted into a residential property. It dates from the 17th century, possibly incorporating elements from an earlier structure, and has undergone alterations in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick with random flared headers and features plain-tile tile-hanging on the first floor to the left and center, likely supported by timber framing. The roof is covered with old plain tiles, hipped with a catslide to the right. There is a brick stack at the left end, a ridge stack to the right of center, and an internal stack to the right with two diagonally-set flues.

The house is two stories high and has a four-window range. A 20th-century plank door leads to a projecting gabled porch located to the right of center. The windows have irregular spacing and consist of three-light casements with leaded lights. Inside, the house features a Queen-post roof that has been raised at the rear, with some alterations to the trusses. There is a 20th-century dog-leg staircase at the rear, and open fireplaces are present on the ground floor to the left and center. The interior also includes stop-chamfered spine beams, with some rooms featuring chamfered joists. It is reputed that part of the structure is built using cruck construction.
