Description

The Old Bakery is a house and former stables dating from the 18th century, and possibly incorporating an earlier structure. It was altered and partly rebuilt in the 20th century. The building is constructed with an uncoursed rubble stone plinth on the left-hand side, red brick with random flared headers on the left, and 20th-century brickwork on the right. It has a 20th-century plain-tile gambrel roof and a brick ridge stack to the left of the centre. The house is single-storey with an attic, and comprises three bays. A 20th-century door is positioned centrally. A two-light wood mullion and transom window with a segmental brick head is located on the left side, alongside a 20th-century window to the left of centre. A cross-gable is situated to the left, featuring a horizontal sliding sash window. The interior is reputed to be of cruck construction, though it has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for group value.
