Description

The Mill House is a mill house that has been converted into a residence. It dates from the early 17th century, with 18th-century cross-wings added to the rear, an 18th-century corridor at the back of the main range, and a raised rear roof slope on the main range. The exterior is rendered, likely over timber-framing, with light timber-framing on the left side featuring painted brick infill. The roof is covered with old plain tiles and is hipped to the left, with a brick ridge stack positioned to the right of the center.

The building has a 3-unit lobby-entry plan and is two stories tall with a four-window, five-bay facade. There is a six-panel door to the right of the center, topped with a flat hood. The windows exhibit irregular placement, featuring casements, including some 18th-century casements on the first floor. The rear also displays irregular fenestration of casements and sashes.

Inside, there is an 18th-century straight-flight staircase with winders leading from the ground to the first floor at the right end of the 18th-century corridor at the back of the main range. The roof structure includes queen-posts, and there is a chamfered spine beam with ogee end stops on the ground floor to the right. An open fireplace is located on the ground floor to the right, while the first floor of the main range showcases much exposed wall framing.
