Description
The Old Vicarage is a Grade II listed building located in Steventon. It is a former vicarage that has been converted into dwellings. The structure features an early 14th-century cross-wing on the right and a main range with a cross-wing to the left that dates from the mid-16th century, with some alterations from the 17th century. The building has a brick plinth and is primarily constructed with large timber framing and rendered infill. It has an old plain-tile complex roof and a brick ridge stack positioned to the left of the central range.
The plan of the building is U-shaped, consisting of a 2-storey, 2-bay central range flanked by 2-storey cross-wings on either side. The left return of the right cross-wing and the right return of the left cross-wing feature sash doors. The windows are arranged irregularly, with casements predominating, except for a wooden oriel window located on the first floor to the left of the central range. The left cross-wing has a queen-post roof truss at its gable end, while the right cross-wing features a crown-post roof truss. At the rear, there are 17th-century wood cross-windows on the first floor to the right. The interiors have not been inspected.
