Description
Number 81 and the attached gateway are a house dating from the mid-16th century, with a reconstruction from the 18th century on the right side. The building features large timber framing with painted brick infill on the left and painted brick on the right. It has an old plain-tile roof and a brick ridge stack at the junction of the two ranges. The house is two stories tall, with a single-bay range on the left that is shorter than the taller two-story, two-window range on the right. There is a six-panel part-glazed door located to the left of center, which has a segmental brick head above it. The right range has four-pane horned sash windows, while the left features two-light casements. A flat brick band runs between the ground and first floors on the right side. Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase on the right and chamfered spine beams on the ground floor. The gateway to the left has an old plain-tile roof and features plank double doors at the front, along with a queen-post roof.
