Description
Nos. 83 and 85 on The Causeway is a house that was formerly two dwellings, likely dating from the late 13th century, with some reconstruction from the 15th century. The building features render on the left and center, probably over timber-framing, while the right side is made of painted brick with remnants of timber-framing. It has an old plain-tile roof that is hipped to the right, with corrugated metal sheeting on that side, and brick ridge stacks located in the center and to the left of center.
This single-storey and attic structure has a four-bay range, with plank doors positioned to the left of center and to the right. There are three-light casement windows to the left of center and in the center, along with a 20th-century metal casement window to the right of center. A bread oven projection is located on the left side, and there are three gabled dormers positioned to the left of center, right of center, and to the right. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to contain four cruck trusses with collars and wind braces.
