Description

This milestone, located approximately 20 meters southeast of the Church of St. Lawrence, dates from the late 18th century. It is made of limestone and has been whitewashed, featuring black letter inscriptions indicating distances to Oxford (7 miles) and Faringdon (10 miles). The road on which it stands was turnpiked in 1733, as noted in the Turnpike Roads of Oxfordshire information sheet from 1977.
