Description

This milestone, dating from the late 18th century, is made of limestone and has been whitewashed. It features black letter inscriptions that read "OXFORD/8/WANTAGE/-". The road it marks was turnpiked in 1770, as noted in the Turnpike Roads of Oxfordshire information sheet from 1977.
