Description
Tubney Warren House is a house built around 1730 to 1740, which was refronted around 1840. The front is made of stucco, while the walls are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with brick quoins and dressings. It features a gabled Welsh slate roof and symmetrical brick stacks at each end. The house has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high, with a symmetrical three-window arrangement. There is a Doric porch with a pediment, a 20th-century door, and 19th-century double-leaf half-glazed inner doors. All windows have six-pane sashes. The ground floor is rusticated and separated from the first floor by an undulating scrolled band, with pilasters at each end. At the rear, there are three 18th-century ranges with gabled roofs, flat brick arches over narrowed openings, and sashes in the outer bays. A lower added range is located to the left. Inside, there is a fine mid-18th-century dog-leg staircase with turned and twisted balusters, which is said to have been reset. The property also features fine attached walls made of limestone rubble with a stepped brick cornice, enclosing a rectangle approximately 20 by 50 meters, and connecting to a barn at the north-north-east corner.
