Description
This barn, dating from the 18th century, is located about 60 metres southeast of Farmoor Valley Farmhouse, which is not included in this listing. The structure is timber-framed and stands on a tall stone rubble plinth, with weatherboarding and a gable-ended roof covered in corrugated iron.
The barn has a four-bay plan featuring opposing cart entrances to the threshing bay situated south of the center, along with a midstrey on the west side. The east side includes a full-height cart entrance to the left of the center. On the west front, there is a gable-ended midstrey to the right of the center, flanked by open-fronted lean-tos on both sides.
Inside, the jowled wall-posts are supported by short straight braces that connect to the tie-beams. The tie-beam trusses feature collars, two tiers of tenoned purlins, and common rafters with a ridgeboard. The wall framing is characterized by close-studding without a midrail and long straight braces.
