Description
Red House Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the early 18th century, with a mid-18th century rear range. The building is constructed from uncoursed limestone rubble with brick dressings and features a gabled 20th-century tile roof and symmetrical brick end stacks. It has a two-unit central staircase plan and stands two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. A timber lintel sits above a plank door that has an overlight. The windows have segmental arches made of alternating red and flared brick, with 20th-century three-light casements below and similar flat brick arches over two-light casements on the first floor, which also have brick aprons. To the left, there is a late 18th-century stone outshut. The mid-18th century rear range has a double-depth plan and is built of Flemish bond brick, with a gabled 20th-century tile roof and brick end stacks. This section is also two storeys high and features a three-window range, with 19th-century timber lintels above a late 19th-century four-panel door and late 19th/20th-century casements, along with a raised storey band. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
