Description
The Corner House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 17th century, which was remodelled and extended to the left in the early 18th century. It features roughcast over limestone rubble, with the limestone exposed in the rear gable wall. The right wing was originally timber-framed. The building has a gabled stone slate roof, with a stone ridge stack finished in 19th century brick and an end stack finished in 20th century brick. The layout is a two-unit plan that has been extended to form an L-plan with a front left bay. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range with irregular fenestration. There is a 20th century porch and door, along with 20th century windows and extensions to the left and rear. Inside, the 17th century section features stop-chamfered beams and a chamfered bressumer over an open fireplace at the rear. The early 18th century extension includes a stack with a keyed stone fireplace, which is adjacent to an early 18th century winder staircase with turned balusters on a closed string.
