Description

Chawley Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, which was remodelled with the front range rebuilt in the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with brick quoins and dressings, and features an early 19th-century rendered front. The roof is half-hipped and made of stone slate, with stone stacks finished in brick at the right end and rear. The building has an L-plan layout with rear left wings and is two storeys high, featuring a two-window range. The 18th-century two-panelled door is set in a wood chamfered arched doorframe with sunk spandrels, and there are early 19th-century eight-pane sash windows. The rear wings are made of similar materials. The interior and rear have not been inspected but are likely to be of interest.
