Description

Two cottages stand on the south side of High Street, Benson. They date to the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The exterior is roughcast, likely over a brick core, and has an old plain-tile roof. Brick ridge stacks are positioned to the left and right of the centre. The cottages are arranged as single storey and attic to the left, and two storeys to the right, with a five-window front. A 20th-century door is located to the left of centre, sheltered by a gabled hood of plain tiles. The left and centre windows are 20-pane sashes. Three horizontal sashes are present to the right. Two half-dormers with 20-pane sashes are situated to the left, while two horizontal sashes are above the centre. A 2-light casement window completes the right-hand side. The interior has not been inspected. This building is of group value due to its contribution to the character of the area.
