Description
These steps, located approximately 10 meters east of Shotover Park, are likely from the early 18th century, with 19th-century decorative elements. Made of limestone, the broad steps are arranged in two short flights. At the base of the steps, there are two low pedestals topped with shallow gadrooned urns. At the top of the steps, they are flanked by marble crouching lions set on granite plinths. The steps align with the main axis of the significant early 18th-century design of the formal gardens. They are included for their group value.
