Description
Home Farm, located in Shotover Park, is a farm building dating from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh-slate roof. The building includes a covered yard that is flanked by low ranges, with three taller ranges radiating from an engine house at the rear. The front has four gables and two large round-arched entrances to the yard, which are situated below triple-arched gable openings. A plain band connects the architraves of the entrances to four smaller archways: one in the left range, one at the center of the front, and two in the right range. The two-storey ranges that flank the engine house have segmental-arched openings, while the barn range, which projects to the rear, features an opening in the gable. A square stack with a stone cornice is also present. Inside, the yard showcases queen-post trusses supported by timber lattice stanchions. This building is included for its historic interest as part of a complete example of a model farm.
