Description

Lashlake Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century, with 20th-century alterations and an addition. The building has a timber frame that is rendered on the exterior, while the south gable end is constructed of rubblestone. It features a half-hipped thatched roof with raking queen strut construction and windbraces supporting what appear to be clasped single purlins. The cottage has an axial chimney stack and a three-bay lobby entrance plan, with a central entrance that includes a thatched gable porch. The windows are a mix of casement and sash styles. To the north, there is a single-storey extension added in the 20th century. Inside, the cottage showcases exposed wall framing and parts of the roof structure. The ground floor rooms feature chamfered beams and joists, and there is a wide winder staircase located in front of the stack. The room on the right includes an inglenook fireplace with a timber lintel, stone jambs, and herringbone brickwork at the back.
