Description

Gable Cottage is a house dating to the 17th century, with alterations made later. The construction incorporates painted uncoursed rubble at the plinth, painted brick for the walls, and a thatched, hipped roof. A brick ridge stack is situated centrally. The house is a two-story, two-bay range set at right angles to the road. A 20th-century plank door is located on the left, accompanied by a 20th-century casement window to the right, both sheltered by a plain-tile lean-to hood. A further 20th-century casement window is present to the right. The left return, facing the road, likely features 19th-century timber framing on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected. A single-story cross-wing extends to the rear, distinguished by a massive stone end stack with a 20th-century brick flue.
