Description
This cowhouse, located approximately 60 meters southeast of Beckley Park, is possibly from the late 17th century. It features weatherboarded timber framing set on a limestone rubble plinth, topped with a corrugated asbestos roof. The structure has a three-bay plan with a gable outshut and stands one storey plus a loft. The central entrance consists of opposed stable doors, with shuttered, wood-latched feeding openings at the ends and rear, and a loft door above the rear entrance. To the left, there is an outshut and the roof is half-hipped. Inside, there is a wooden fence along the feeding passage with pivoted staves secured by hinged wooden clamps, and two small pens located beside the entrance. This cowhouse remains an unaltered example of its type.
