Description

West Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century, with extensions from the 18th century and partial remodeling in the 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble and brick, with some timber framing, and features an old plain-tile roof with a brick ridge stack. The building has a two-unit lobby-entry plan that has been extended to three units, forming a T-plan. It stands one storey plus an attic and two storeys high.

The earlier sections of the farmhouse have a central doorway flanked by three-light casement windows, with an additional doorway (now a casement) to the extreme right, all featuring segmental arches. Above the door is a small leaded window. The roof is half-hipped to the left and includes two three-light gabled dormers and a large rebuilt central stack. The walls are primarily in 19th-century brick, likely replacing earlier timber framing. An added rubble bay to the right has a three-light casement on the first floor and a lower half-hipped roof. Some timber framing with brick infill remains at the rear.

At the back, there is a two-storey brick wing from the late 18th century that has segmental-arched casements. Inside, there is a massive central stack with blocked fireplaces. The inscription "I.1647.B" on an adjacent barn, which is not included in the listing, may indicate the date of the farmhouse.
