Description
Asham Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the 17th century and was enlarged in the 18th century. It features timber framing with brick infill, colourwashed brick, and rubble, topped with old plain-tile roofs and brick stacks. The building has a two-unit plan that has been extended to four units and stands two storeys high.
The two bays on the left side of the front are older and taller, with the end bay made of brick and rubble, while the entrance bay is timber framed. Both of these bays have some old three-light leaded casements, and the door includes a rectangular overlight. The roof has a gable stack on the left side. The 18th-century brick bays, which are set back to the right, feature a dentil eaves course and four segmental-arched three-light leaded casements. This range also includes a rubble chimney projection from the earlier sections, with a tall stack that rises from the lower roof. The interior has not been inspected.
