Description
Hilltop Cottage is a house that was formerly subdivided, likely built in the late 17th century or early 18th century, with extensions added in the 20th century. The structure features timber framing with brick infill set on a rubble plinth, topped with a thatched roof and brick ridge stacks. It has a four-unit plan with two rear wings and stands one storey plus an attic. The front of the cottage has an irregular four-window arrangement that slightly projects in the two bays to the left. Most of the front is constructed with late framing and re-set brick infill, while the entrance bay, located to the right of centre, showcases earlier jointed and pegged framing. The right bay has a higher plinth. All the casements and the four dormers are from the 20th century. The roof is half-hipped to the right and features two ridge stacks. The rear wings were added in the 20th century, and the interior has not been inspected.
