Description

Rose Cottage is a late 17th and early 18th century house located on Brill Road, Horton cum Studley. It is timber-framed with colourwashed brick infill, set on a limestone rubble plinth, and has an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The house is originally arranged in three units. It has one storey and an attic. The three-window front features a central doorway with a tiled canopy supported by wooden posts. To the right of the door are two casement windows and a small first-floor window. A section of the wall to the left of the door has been rebuilt in brick. The roof has gabled dormers located to the left and above the door, two original stacks to the left of centre, and a more recent stack on the right gable wall. The interior has not been inspected. A brick bay has been added to the left side of the house, likely incorporating a converted late 18th or early 19th century outbuilding, and is distinguished by a dentil eaves course.
