Description
Mrs Betts' Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century and early 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with some timber-framing and features a concrete plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The building has a three-unit plan with two rear wings and stands two storeys tall.
The street-facing side has a projecting lateral stack with brick weatherings located to the left of the centre. To the right, there are three renewed casements on both the ground and first floors, with an additional ground-floor casement to the left of the stack. The entrance is located at the rear.
The left gable displays the remains of a parapet with projecting kneelers, while the right gable is timber-framed and half-hipped, with a straight joint indicating that this bay was added later. The rear wings, which are of rubble, brick, and timber-framed construction, date from the 18th century. Between these wings, at the first floor, there is a wooden frame featuring diamond mullions and intermediate bars, which is said to be a recent addition.
Inside, the farmhouse includes a timber-framed cross partition, some 17th-century oak panelling, and an 18th-century dog-leg stair.
