Description

Old Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with remodels and extensions from the 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with some ashlar dressings and features a plain-tile roof with a brick ridge stack. The building has a two-unit lobby-entry plan that has been extended to form an L-plan. It stands two storeys tall with attics. The front of the house is irregular, featuring a central door within a 20th-century porch, a lower rubble range that projects to the right, and the gable end of the rear range to the left, which includes some 12-pane sash windows and a central gabled roof dormer that may have been added in the 20th century. The left return wall shows the rear of the original range, now with sash windows, a small blocked first-floor window aligned with the central stack, and two roof dormers. The right gable wall and the rear of the front range have three-light leaded casements, while a lean-to roof partially obscures a wood-framed cross window. Inside, the large central stack features a fine three-centre arched moulded-stone fireplace, a large open fireplace with a cambered bressumer, and a smoking recess with access from the former lobby.
