Description

HOLTON SP60NW 6/120 Old Park Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17, remodelled and extended C18. Limestone rubble with some ashlar dressings; plain-tile roof with brick ridge stack. 2-unit lobby-entry plan extended to L-plan. 2 storeys plus attics. Present front is irregular with central door in C20 porch, lower rubble range projecting to right, gable end of rear range to left with some 12-pane sashes, and a central gabled roof dormer (possibly inserted in C20). Left return wall is rear of original range and now has sashes, a small blocked first-floor window in line with the central stack, and 2 roof dormers. Right gable wall and rear of front range have 3-light leaded casements, and a lean-to roof partly obscures a wood-framed cross window. Interior: Large central stack has fine 3-centre arched moulded-stone fireplace, plus a large open fireplace with cambered bressumer and a smoking recess with access from former lobby.
