Description
Holton Park features retaining walls and bridges that date from the 17th century or earlier. The walls are made of coursed limestone rubble and are present on all four sides, almost completely surrounding a rectangular island. Additionally, there are walls at the east angle of the outer perimeter. These walls extend as rectangular projecting abutments from both sides of the moat to the north-west bridge, which is a flat timber structure likely from the 19th or 20th century. The south-east bridge is a bowed timber structure with a lattice balustrade, also probably from the 19th or 20th century. This island is the location of Holton House, the former manor house.
