Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the early 17th century and was altered in the 18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble with brick dressings, topped by an old plain-tile roof and featuring brick stacks. The building has a T-plan and has been extended, standing two storeys tall. The three-unit front range includes a door to the right of centre, which is sheltered by a 20th-century tiled canopy, and is flanked by two 19th-century double sash windows. On the first floor, there are two 18th-century three-light casement windows with brick segmental arches. The left bay has a blocked doorway. The upper part of the wall, featuring a brick dentil eaves course, is from the 18th century, and an earlier gable, though not the original, is visible in the right gable wall. A ridge stack is positioned to the left of centre, and the left gable wall has been rebuilt in brick. The rear wing has also been raised and is accompanied by single-storey ranges and outshuts, most likely from the 18th century, although one former dairy range has a datestone marked "TP/1805." Inside, the farmhouse is largely from the 18th century and later, but it retains two open fireplaces; one in the front range features a wide Tudor-arched bressumer with sunk spandrels. There are also some 17th-century panelled doors.
