Description
Ickford Bridge, located in the parish of Tiddington-with-Albury, is a bridge that likely dates back to the late medieval period and is marked with the year 1685. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble and ashlar. The main section features two arches that are separated by triangular cutwaters with refuges. The northern arch is three-centred, while the southern arch is four-centred and has stepped buttresses on its south side. Further to the south, there is a smaller three-centred arch. The stone parapets have triangular copings, and the eastern refuge contains two adjacent stones inscribed with "1685/HERE ENDS/THE COVNTY OF/OXON" and "HERE/BEgINETH/The COVNTY/OF Bvcks 1685". Portions of the bridge extend into the parishes of Waterstock in Oxfordshire and Ickford in Buckinghamshire.
