Description
Ickford Bridge, located in the parish of Waterstock, is a bridge that is probably partly from the late medieval period and is dated 1685. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble and ashlar. The main section features two arches separated by triangular cutwaters with refuges. The north arch is three-centred, while the south arch is four-centred and has stepped buttresses on the south side. Further south, there is a smaller three-centred arch. The stone parapets have triangular copings, and the eastern refuge contains two adjacent stones inscribed with "1685/HERE ENDS/ THE COVNTY OF/ OXON" and "HERE/ BEgINETH/THE COUNTY/ OF Bucks/1685". Other sections of the bridge are situated within the parishes of Tiddington-with-Albury in Oxfordshire and Ickford in Buckinghamshire.
