Description

Lower Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with brick dressings and some timber-framing, topped with Welsh slate and old plain tile roofs featuring brick gable stacks. The building consists of two parallel ranges and is two storeys high. The front range has four windows and is partly timber-framed on the first floor. It includes two doors with renewed and altered casements, and the framing is infilled with pebbledash, particularly on the left gable. The stack on the left has an 18th-century brick base. The later range features a three-window garden front with segmental brick arches. Inside, the farmhouse has been much altered but retains an open fireplace with a chamfered and stopped bressumer and a bread-oven.
